Lukashenko congratulated Syrian President on 30th anniversary of Belarusian-Syrian diplomatic relations
On August 26th, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, congratulated President of the Syrian Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Belarusian-Syrian diplomatic relations – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service
“During this time, Belarusian-Syrian relations have been developing dynamically on the basis of friendship and trust,” the Head of State noted. “An exchange of high-level visits took place, embassies were opened in Minsk and Damascus, an intergovernmental commission was set up, co-operation was established in the fields of trade, education, culture and sports. Belarus has always remained close to Syria, extending a helping hand in the years of hard times. I assure you of my readiness to continue to support the fraternal Syrian people at the stage of post-conflict construction.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed his conviction that ‘our states will successfully cope with the new challenges of our time and we will continue fruitfully interacting both in a bilateral format and on international platforms’.
The President of Belarus wished strong health and happiness to Bashar al-Assad and his family.
