Lukashenko congratulated Pope Francis on his 85th birthday
“The life journey of Your Holiness is entirely connected with the service to God and to people. Your personal example is of particular value and significance both for the Catholic flock and for the whole world. It is pleasant to note the high level of relations between Belarus and the Vatican, which has been achieved thanks to your efforts,” noted the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, according to the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The President welcomed the appointment of the new Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Minsk and Mogilev of the Roman Catholic Church.
“I remember with warmth the meeting with you and I hope that in the near future we will be able to again discuss various issues of our co-operation,” stressed Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The President expressed confidence that joint activities will contribute to the achievement of common goals: the development of interfaith dialogue and the protection of the traditional family and true Christian values.
The Head of State wished Pope Francis good health and long life.
