“The warriors in green caps have always been an example of dedicated service to the country and the people,” the congratulatory message reads. “The feat of the Soviet border guards, who were the first to take the blow of the Nazi invaders in June 1941, will remain forever in our memory. Already in the post-war years, the personnel of the 16th border detachment showed special courage and heroism in the confrontation with gangs.”
The Head of State noted that now the Grodno Border Group occupies one of the key places in the system of territorial bodies of Belarus’ border service, ensuring the inviolability of a significant section of the country’s western border.
“I am convinced that each of you will continue to do everything possible to fulfil your duty to the Fatherland and reliably protect its sacred borders,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed special words of gratitude to the veteran border guards, “Your active lifestyle, invaluable experience and knowledge are needed today more than ever to educate the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and love for the Motherland.”
The President wished the command, personnel and veterans of the Grodno Border Group, as well as their families, strong health, well-being and further success for the benefit of their native Belarus.
