During the meeting, the Azerbaijani PM conveyed to the Head of State an invitation from Ilham Aliyev to personally participate in the events of the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference.

“If Ilham says so, then we will attend,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

“We attach special importance to your personal participation, which will give a special status to this conference. Thank you for your lightning-fast reaction,” Ali Asadov stressed.

The UN Climate Change Conference has been held annually since 1995, gathering the participating countries of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. Negotiations under the Kyoto Protocol are also conducted during the event.

The previous summit was held in November-December 2023 in Dubai (UAE), bringing together representative delegations from over 150 countries. The event was attended Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The next climate conference is scheduled for November 11th-22nd, 2024 in Baku (Azerbaijan).
