Lukashenko confident peace will be preserved in Belarus
During the Easter service in the Saviour Transfiguration Church in Shklov, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, spoke about his feelings on this day
“Easter is a bright, good holiday. Only the New Year can be compared with this holiday in terms of expectations,” noted the Belarusian leader.
At the same time, the Head of State added that all our spiritual and secular holidays are very valuable for us, for our people, “Our families do not expect any other holidays like New Year and Easter. Therefore, today is one of these two very anticipated and revered holidays by us. It’s a bright, kind holiday when you just want to live in peace, say nothing and listen to silence. I have such feelings. Probably many too.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that he addresses a wide audience from the pulpit of the church, “From this ancient temple (late 18th century), I want to congratulate our Belarusians, everyone who sees us today, and once again I want to thank you and congratulate you on this good and bright holiday.”
The President expressed his sincerest wish, “Most importantly, I wish you peace and health. We will find everything else, if we don’t find it, as I often say, we will buy it. But it’s impossible to buy health, to buy peace... You see what is being done around you. And it costs us tremendous efforts to preserve this peaceful island. If we do our job – as I say, each one should do their job – we will do the unbelievable: in this situation, we will keep peace on this earth, when everything around is ‘boiling up’ and many do not know, do not understand, do not plan any long-term prospects not knowing what will happen tomorrow. Everything will be fine tomorrow, make no doubt about it.”
The President wished people to live peacefully, calmly and once again wished health, especially to children, “You know, if something is wrong in a family with a child, a person doesn’t want to live. Therefore, in order to want to live, you need to have a strong family and, most importantly, healthy children. I wish you happiness, peace, and kindness!”
