Lukashenko comments on attempts to transfer weapons and ammunition to refugees on the border
On meeting the Council of Ministers heads, the President commented on the situation on the border, “There is a very dangerous trend there – as I have assumed. This is an issue of our military and the State Security Committee.”
“Attempts are being made to transfer weapons, ammunition and explosives to these people in the camp. Weapons are being transferred during the recent two days. Weapons are mostly coming (the Russians and I keep this issue under control and we discussed this topic with Putin) from Donbass. Why are these weapons coming? They want to arrange a provocation here – so that our border guards and military bump their heads with theirs. Therefore, we have to control the situation around the perimeter now so that they do not throw weapons to them. There are Kurds there. Kurds are fighters; they are constantly at war. And when they cut, beat them, and so on, people are desperate. Any machine gun, pistol, or a provocation can produce a military conflict,” the Head of State said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko asked Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin and KGB Chairman Ivan Tertel to ensure appropriate security measures so that weapons and explosives would not get into the camp located near the Bruzgi border checkpoint. “Otherwise, there will be a massacre,” he stressed.
