Lukashenko: Belarus’ success rests on experience of past generations
The secret of the successful development of Belarus is that it has not destroyed the achievements of previous generations, but used the gained experience to improve them – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko at a meeting with humanities students at the Minsk State Linguistic University
During the meeting, Ivan Pashko, a student of the Belarusian State University, noted that the BSU History Faculty has celebrated its 90th anniversary this year. By that date, the new academic building had been revamped. In that regard, the young man invited Aleksandr Lukashenko to come to the BSU and give a lecture on the history of modern Belarusian statehood.
Aleksandr Lukashenko accepted the invitation with pleasure, but warned with a bit of humour, “It will take a long time. Two hours maybe not enough to cover the topic.”
Continuing the theme of history, the Head of State drew attention to the fact that a new exhibition centre is currently being built in Minsk, “This is for you, because young people do not know Belarus. Some youngsters know more of foreign states than Belarus. They will come there [to the exhibition centre] and see what we have done with our own hands.”
The President also spoke about the construction of a new history museum: the work is in full swing to show the whole world that Belarusians have history and memory. “Our success rests on just one truth: we have not discarded the experience [of previous generations]. We have been improving, perfecting and achieving new heights with view on our giants. If we get rid of them, we would not have the money to create something new,” he noted.
