Lukashenko: Belarus open to constructive initiatives of France and ready to take same steps forward

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated the multinational people of France on the holiday widely known in the world as Bastille Day, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

"You are citizens of a country that has an interesting and instructive history of fighting injustice and defeating absolutism under the Freedom, Equality, Fraternity slogan,” the congratulatory message reads. “These values are gaining a special meaning these days, as never before. Being highly revered in some Western capitals, they are actually banned when defending their national interests by countries in the East or the South. This has led to increased social inequality, a drop in people's living standards, increased confrontation, and the spread of armed conflicts."

As noted by the Head of State, numerous examples of co-operation between the two countries have never threatened the security of France. “Thanks to contacts, without pressure and ultimatums, we could get to know each other better, travel, and discover new opportunities in the fields of science, culture, trade and investment," the Belarusian leader stressed.

The President expressed confidence that sincere feelings of friendship and trust, with respect for the long-term experience of fruitful co-operation between the peoples of the two countries, will lead to a dialogue between Belarus and France.

"Despite all the difficulties of today, Minsk keeps its doors open to constructive initiatives of Paris and is ready to take the same steps towards it," the Head of State emphasised.

On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself, Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the people of France peace, civil harmony and prosperity.
