Lukashenko approved changes on issues of service in internal affairs bodies

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 353 on September 9th, which envisages amendments to a number of legislative acts, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian leader’s press service

In particular, the regulations on service in the internal affairs bodies of the Republic of Belarus are being amended in order to bring them into line with later adopted legislative acts (Code of Education, laws On Combating Corruption, On Public Service, On Notaries and Notarial Activities, On Population Register, and others), as well as to take into account the practical experience of their application.

The changes are aimed at improving the efficiency of staffing of internal affairs bodies, improving the legal and social protection of employees.

In particular, a new basis is being introduced for refusing a citizen to join the internal affairs bodies and terminating this service: the acquisition of citizenship of a foreign state. The age limit for recruitment is increasing from 25 to 28 years due to a change in the age limit for service from 45 to 48 years.

Additional guarantees are provided for family members of an employee of the internal affairs bodies in terms of free medical care in organisations of the Interior Ministry. The possibility of providing employees with free meals according to the norms established by law is fixed in cases of involving them in the protection of public order when transferring them to an enhanced version of service.

Employees of the financial investigation bodies, the Investigative Committee, bodies and departments for emergency situations and the State Committee for Forensic Examinations are granted the right to medical care in organisations of the Interior Ministry, sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation on the terms and in accordance with the procedure established for employees of the internal affairs bodies.

The decree has an important point: military-patriotic clubs can be created on the basis of internal affairs bodies, which will contribute to the development of patriotic education of young people.
