Lukashenko announced adoption of decisions on further development of Belarus’ south-eastern territories
Decisions on the further development of Belarus’ south-eastern territories will be made in July-August 2024 – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko during today’s working trip to the Kostyukovichi District of the Mogilev Region
Speaking to local residents, the Head of State expressed satisfaction with the level of development of the area, “You are situated here exactly on the border. To be honest, I was a little surprised that you kept everything in order so well and even work well on earth. It is very important.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that a programme for the development of the south-east of the Mogilev Region was adopted some time ago, “We’ve agreed that in late July or early August we will invite those responsible to Mogilev and ask them how they implemented it.”
According to the President, the regional authorities are proposing to extend this programme and provide the appropriate benefits and preferences.
“After all, this is money, and I have absolutely no objection, but we need to see what you had done from what we agreed on. If you did, then we will move forward with it,” the Head of State underlined.
At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed words of gratitude to Kostyukovichi residents, “Thank you! Well done! You live in a beautiful city. This is like Minsk in the east of our beautiful country, including in the Mogilev Region. Thank you very much for this. Thank you very much for being real. I feel that you are real.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko noted the importance of how work in the cultural sphere is organised in the district and how craft traditions are preserved.
“Any big city, including the capital, can envy this. This is great. We will support you in this regard. I know it well, it’s deep in my heart… You keep our ancient traditions alive. That’s why I say that you are real. You are patriots. As long as you are here, the country will be independent and sovereign. We are not afraid of anyone as long as you are here. If we turn off this path, there will be trouble… We will make a decision in July-August on how we will move forward in the south-east of the Mogilev Region,” the Belarusian leader emphasised.
The President stressed that the current visit is no longer akin to his previous trips to the Chernobyl-affected territories, “Today we talk less about it, because we realise that we’ve saved our country – these 25 percent of our territory. Today we understand that it is not just necessary to live here. People live here, and the birth rate here is even higher than countrywide. We will financially support those who give birth to our children. This primarily refers to housing. If a family has three children, housing should be provided to them without any talks, let alone those having four and five children.”
