Lukashenko and his family donated Soviet coins to Talai for memorial sign creation
Patriotism, peace, nobility – these and other similar words are incredibly strong, and they resonate in everyone's heart. The memory of those who gave us a possibility to live peaceful life could be cherished not only with words: the Living Memory of Grateful Generations memorial sign will be installed in Victory Park. This project was initiated by a public figure, a Paralympian and a record holder in swimming, Aleksei Talai, with many Belarusians taking part. People have united to collect thousands of Soviet coins, from which the monument will be smelted. The President and his family have also made their contribution: the coins were handed over by the Deputy Head of the President Administration, Igor Lutsky.
“In the Year of Historical Memory, all the people have united, and we have decided to create a truly national monument,” Mr. Talai said. “We will cast it today, on the day when the Great Patriotic War began – using all 130,000 coins collected countrywide. Children, old people and families came to the Great Patriotic War History Museum to contribute to our common goal. I am very happy that, at the President Administration, we have been given the coins from the family of the Head of State, from his children and grandchildren. In this way we show that the whole nation unites in the name of love, kindness, and justice. Together with our President, we are ready to implement the most ambitious plans,” Mr. Talai stressed.
