Lukashenko addressed figures of culture: your creativity is what is called historical memory
Awarding of figures of culture by the President of Belarus on Independence Day has already become a good tradition, and a solemn ceremony has taken place today at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre
“For us, Belarusians, independence means freedom and life which the generation of winners presented to us. We remember that, in different periods of history, our ancestors defended this freedom not only with weapons in their hands. No nation in the world can be truly independent without having a rich cultural heritage and a strong spiritual foundation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed those present, adding that the latter is being created by figures of art.
“You are the ones who fix a historical moment, depicting it in literature, music, art, architecture and sculpture, films and digital forms. Differently speaking, you are creating a chronicle of life of a generation, of our state. We will pass away, but this will remain. Your creativity is what is called historical memory. This is what makes us a nation, what acts as a condition for our sovereignty. It depends on you in many ways whether our independence will be strengthened and passed down from one generation to another,” the Head of State said.
