Libya seriously studying the issue of joining BRICS
The authorities of eastern Libya are carefully studying the issue of joining BRICS as part of a common economic strategy to expand ties with developing countries – as stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation of the Government of Libya, based in the country’s east, Abdul Hadi Al-Hweij, RIA Novosti reports
Abdul Hadi Al-Hweij noted that BRICS is an important economic bloc. "I am among those who support Libya's accession to BRICS," he stressed, adding that the country is studying this step as part of a strategy to strengthen economic ties with developing countries and implement sustainable economic development.
"We should seriously work on this step... The government has taken steps to this end, we have prepared a number of studies, but such decisions require discussion with various political circles… We will work on this issue, we strive to join BRICS, at least as an observer at the first stage," Abdul Hadi Al-Hweij said.
