Lebedev will head CIS observer mission at elections to Belarusian Parliament

The CIS Secretary General, Sergei Lebedev, will head the CIS observer mission during the elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. As reported by the CIS Executive Committee’s official website, his candidacy was approved by the decision of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member states to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth.

In line with a decree of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, elections to the House of Representatives and local councils of deputies are scheduled for February 25th, 2024. The CIS observer mission will monitor the electoral campaign at the invitation of Belarus’ Foreign Ministry.
