Last year, exports of BSU educational services totalled Br2.5m

In 2023, exports of the Belarusian State University (BSU) high-tech products and services grew by almost 20 percent compared to the previous year and reached $2.76m – as noted by Rector Andrei Korol at the BSU council, sb.by reports with reference to the BSU press service

“Exports to Russia increased by 47 percent, and those to China jumped by 56 percent,” the university noted. “The agreements with Peking University on the establishment of the China-Belarus Centre for Fundamental Scientific Research became a significant event, alongside the opening of the Chinese-Belarusian international laboratory of functional materials at the Great Stone Industrial Park.”

It is reported that in recent years, the positive dynamics of dissertation defences by university scientists has been maintained. There is a steady increase in the number of foreign graduate students, and the number of students studying in English has increased by more than 1.5 times. Last year, exports of educational services stood at Br2.5m – 47.1 percent up compared to 2022.

Rector Andrei Korol focused on strengthening the involvement of youngsters in scientific research and teaching, since this is where the cultivation of highly qualified scientific personnel begins.

“In the coming academic year, work will continue on the integration of the BSU scientific, innovative and educational activities, on the expansion of the university’s presence in the global scientific space, on the formation of innovation centres, on the increase of the share of applied research and development,” the press service reported.

The issue of personnel policy was also raised at the meeting. Organisational and local regulatory transformations were carried out during the reporting period. The functionality of the vice-rectors is adjusted annually, focused on the BSU current activities and the needs of the state.

The work with the personnel reserve has proven its efficiency. Work has been intensified on the organisation of additional education for employees with a focus on ideological and educational work, digital higher education and work in a multicultural and multilingual environment.

“The built-up system of project, information, explanatory and preventive activities in the educational and ideological sphere has good prospects,” the university stressed. “There has been an increase in the number of public organisations of BSU. The number of participants in the student movement has increased 1.5 times.”

Andrei Korol also drew attention to the relevance of information security, the importance of preventive measures, and compliance with the requirements of local legal acts that were developed at BSU.
