Kremlin representative: Russia ready for security dialogue with the United States only in conjunction with Ukrainian issue

Russia is ready to engage in a dialogue with the United States on strategic stability issues, but it will be held only in conjunction with a discussion of the situation in Ukraine and other issues – as stated by the Russian President’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, TASS reports

Commenting on the statements of the US authorities that Washington is open to talking with Russia about nuclear risks in isolation from the Ukrainian conflict, Mr. Peskov stressed, “We are open to a dialogue, but to a broad, comprehensive one that will cover all dimensions, including the conflict around Ukraine and the US involvement into it.”

The Kremlin representative also expressed confidence that the US authors of these proposals ‘do not trouble themselves’ in studying the Russian position expressed by the country's top political leadership.

“Speaking about the prospects for a dialogue, the President of Russia said that we are ready for it with the United States, we are interested in a dialogue with the United States – but only in conjunction [with the related issues]. It is impossible to pull out any segments from the general complex of accumulated problems," Mr. Peskov explained, adding that such a dialogue is ‘very much in demand and needed’, since ‘problems, including those related to global security are getting accumulated’.
