Kochanova to Eurasian Women's Forum participants representing Belarus: we are to spread the truth about our country
Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, held an organisational meeting with the Belarusian delegation, which will take part in the Eurasian Women's Forum
Communicating with the participants, Ms. Kochanova emphasised that the interest in the forthcoming event is huge, “Therefore, we should worthily present our country, and this primary refers to working in sections and speaking at the plenary session.”
Today’s meeting focused on the qualitative and quantitative composition of the delegation, as well as the areas in which the Belarusian representatives plan to speak.
“I know that many female leaders in our country have received personal invitations, but we should consolidate our efforts, since we act as part of one delegation. We have agreed on this with the management of the organising committee. We should now clearly determine, which sections we will participate in, and who will deliver speeches,” Ms. Kochanova noted.
The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic also said that, at an invitation of the Federation Council, Belarusian cosmonaut Marina Vasilevskaya will take part in the forum as well.
Ms. Kochanova called for a very careful approach to the preparation of participation in the forum, “This large-scale event will gather many participants, and we can also organise bilateral meetings as part of it – focusing on the issues related to light industry, healthcare, industry, and the work of Belarusian Women’s Union. This work is very important.”
“Our common task is to convey the truth about our country, to inform on the policy that is being pursued in Belarus in relation to women and families with children. We have something to be proud of. You know that, perhaps, no country has such an attitude towards women. Our President says, “I am a president of women.” We are proud that Aleksandr Grigorievich pays such attention to women. We must fully convey this to the world community.”
The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic also called for active interaction with the media at the forum, noting the importance of this work.
The Eurasian Women's Forum is an authoritative international platform for dialogue between women leaders from all continents and the development of joint solutions on topical issues of international co-operation, sustainable economic development, mastering of new technologies, ensuring a healthy lifestyle and environmental safety, and promotion of social charity projects. The forum participants include women parliamentarians, representatives of executive authorities, international organisations, business circles, the scientific community, public organisations and charitable projects, authoritative figures of the international women's movement from many countries of the world. The event is organised by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly. On September 18th-20th, 2024, the forum will be held in St. Petersburg for the fourth time, and its key theme will be Women for Building Trust and Global Co-operation. It will be discussed at five thematic platforms: Women in Shaping New Agenda for Peace and Trust, "Women in New Economic Reality: Technologies and Innovations, Women for Healthy Society and Social Well-Being, Women for Clean Planet and Food Security, and Women for Preservation of Traditions and Cultural Diversity".
