Kochanova: healthcare system must run like clockwork
During a meeting on topical healthcare issues on May 23rd, 2023, the President instructed the Government and the entire healthcare system to improve the quality of medical services provided. The progress in implementing this order has been discussed during a meeting of the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, Natalya Kochanova, and chief doctors of Minsk’s polyclinics, hospitals and national research and practical centres.
“The Head of State once set us the task of codification,” recalled Natalya Kochanova. “Now we have the Education Code and the Culture Code, with the Healthcare Code currently under discussion. All bills that regulate this area will be combined into one document. At the moment, the relevant ministry is involved in this work, but you should actively join this process. Our goal is to ensure the best healthcare in the country.”
At the same time, according to the Speaker of the Council of the Republic, even under sanctions, everything is being done to ensure efficient and proper work of the healthcare system, “You must remember that our policy centres around people with their problems and tasks that need to be settled. People should live better and better every year. Our citizens should have the opportunity to quickly receive professional help without standing in a long queue. The system must be adjusted and run like clockwork. Advanced technologies and advanced organisations should be concentrated in Minsk, e.g., a pilot project for the early diagnosis of cancer of the oral cavity and pharynx is already being implemented – to be later extended throughout the country. The capital has every opportunity to improve the quality of medical services: funding is being allocated regularly, existing healthcare facilities are being modernised, and new ones are being built, like, e.g., the Minsk City Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases and the polyclinic of Minsk’s City Clinical Oncologic Dispensary, where not only Minskers are served.
