Kochanova: clean and comfortable Belarus is our brand

The nationwide subbotnik is already the completion of what many organisations and institutions of our country have been doing to clean up because clean and comfortable Belarus is our brand

This was stated by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, taking part in the nationwide subbotnik on the territory of the Student Village residential complex. Here, members of the Presidium and employees of the Secretariat of the Council of the Republic headed by the speaker, as well as members of the Youth Council (Parliament) under the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, representatives of the administration of Minsk’s Moskovsky District laid the Alley of Peace comprising of 100 holly maples.

“Planting such an alley in the Year of Peace and Creation is very important for us,” said Natalya Kochanova. “Moreover, we are working jointly with our youth: our colleagues from the Youth Council, and this speaks of the continuity of generations. Every time children are taken to the subbotnik, they come with their parents and grandparents, suggesting that this tradition will live on for a long time, perhaps forever.”

Natalya Kochanova added that Belarusians support this tradition not only on the official day of the nationwide subbotnik; some go out to clean up earlier.

“Today I’m in a great mood,” she shared. “Every year I’m more and more imbued with the idea of subbotniks. Although we have participated in subbotniks all our lives from an early age, but when you and your team meet in an informal setting to do something good, it’s really wonderful. Therefore, I always look forward to this day.”
