Kochanova: Belarus, Pakistan review contractual and legal framework of co-operation
The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, Natalya Kochanova, held a meeting with the parliamentary delegation of Pakistan headed by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq
“The Belarusian side, as Aleksandr Lukashenko also said, is grateful [to Pakistan] for the country's support in joining the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation. It is very important for us to liaise with your state in the international arena, to enjoy constructive interaction in international organisations such as the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement and others. Belarus and Pakistan have good friendly relations, and this is a great merit of our leaders. During your meeting with our President, the tasks that we must implement were announced, and among them is a higher level of our co-operation. I am sure that our parliamentary interaction will also contribute to this process,” Ms. Kochanova said.
As noted by the Speaker of the Council of the Republic, a number of agreements, memoranda and co-operation agreements have been signed between Belarus and Pakistan, but Mr. Kochanova believes they should work more effectively – as the Head of State pointed out during the meeting.
“Aleksandr Lukashenko said that it is necessary to conduct an audit of our contractual and legal relations. We will definitely join in the development of the roadmap on co-operation between Belarus and Pakistan for 2025-2027, which was also discussed. A working group has already been established in our Parliament for co-operation between the countries. For our part, we will make every effort to ensure that the agreements reached between our leaders are implemented effectively, and the friendship of countries and peoples develops in the future. There are prospects for this.”
Ms. Kochanova paid special attention to interparliamentary co-operation, “The sanctions pressure that is being exerted on many countries, and all the events taking place in the world in general are a point of concern for all of us, I guess. We, representatives of the people, must work together to ensure that peace and tranquillity reign in our countries, so that we can live according to our laws and traditions. We should talk more about this together. Belarus' peace-loving policy is that we always treat constructively those who are ready to co-operate.”
Ms. Kochanova expressed confidence that co-operation between Belarus and Pakistan will strengthen, and the parliamentary delegation’s visit will become an impetus for more active development of bilateral relations.
