Kochanova at opening of Republican Family Festival: it will become good tradition in Belarus

A strong family is the key to a strong state that can develop and solve the problems facing the country and society as a whole – as stated by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of Belarus, at the opening of the Republican Family Festival: Together

“This wonderful campaign will become a good tradition,” Natalya Kochanova said at the festival held upon the initiative of the Belarusian Women's Union on the basis of the Rodnichok Children’s Health Camp. “The events organised in our country to support families with children, as well as the policy aimed at demographic security, and the ‘happy family’ priority determined by the Belarusian People's Congress resonate in our society – and even far beyond.”

According to Ms. Kochanova, many other nations start following the Belarusian traditions. “People who come to us to save their children are an example of this. They find in Belarus what they lack in other countries: classic family traditions. And as our President said, a classic family that brings up children is the key to the future of not only one family, but also the country as a whole,” she said.

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic added that the festival would continue the work carried out in the country by state bodies. As she noted, the issue of family values is of great concern to Belarusian society.

“This can be judged by the number of proposals sent to the constitutional commission for consideration, there were a lot of them,” Ms. Kochanova stressed. “With this in mind, we have outlined that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. Our National Security Concept has even a more detailed definition: ‘between a female and a male by birth’. We understand how important it is today not only for our country, but also for the whole world. Citizens of different countries are moving to Belarus, as they seek to protect their children from modern liberal trends that contradict not only the norms of morality, but also the common sense. They find their spiritual Homeland on the Belarusian land. Of course, each of us has made a personal contribution to the modern achievements of our country in the field of family policy. After all, the Belarusian people are one big family that live in a common house called the Republic of Belarus.”
