Kochanova: amount of contracts concluded at 2nd Belarusian-Uzbek forum should be higher than last year

The amount of contracts concluded during the 2nd Belarusian-Uzbek Women’s Business Forum should be higher than in 2023 – as noted by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova during a meeting focusing on the preparations for the 2nd Belarusian-Uzbek business event. In September 2023, the 1st Belarusian-Uzbek Women’s Business Forum took place in Minsk. This year, the second forum will be held in Tashkent on August 26th-27th.

“The first forum was quite successful, signing 15 contracts worth about Br100m,” the Speaker of the Council of the Republic noted. “I think that this year the amount should be higher – based on the tasks of co-operation that the President has set for us.”

Natalya Kochanova recalled that in February 2023, the President of Belarus visited Uzbekistan, where an action plan for co-operation between the countries was signed.

“This forum will be held in the development of those agreements that were reached during the President’s visit to Uzbekistan,” the Speaker of the Council of the Republic stressed. “Therefore, we must do everything to ensure that the forum – to be held in Uzbekistan – is organised and co-ordinated on our part. We must ensure the business event has an economic effect, because it is necessary to develop co-operation with all countries in the interests of our republic; this interaction must be mutually beneficial. This was also discussed at a meeting with the Head of State on international activities.”

The Chairperson of the Council of the Republic added that in 2022, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was held in Uzbekistan, attended by Belarusian parliamentarians.

“We’ve seen that this is a very interesting country, and the opportunities are huge there. Moreover, friendly relations have been established between our nations – relying on the good relations between the leaders of Belarus and Uzbekistan. When we meet at various international venues, we see that women entrepreneurs from Belarus and Uzbekistan are already working directly, they do not need to be pushed, because they have established contacts. That’s why I think the first forum was a success. Each ministry and department should show serious interest in the second event and contribute to the effective participation of Belarus in the second forum. We need to show ourselves,” Natalya Kochanova.
