Khrenin: we need to preserve sovereignty and independence of Belarus and Russia
Belarus’ Defence Minister, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, took part in the joint board session of the defence ministries of Belarus and Russia, focusing on the need to preserve the sovereignty and independence of Belarus and Russia – as reported by the Belarusian defence department in its Telegram channel
As Khrenin stated, the strategic nature of Belarusian-Russian relations was laid down many years ago, “Our main task today is to maintain the achieved level of co-operation, its further development and deepening in the conditions of unprecedented pressure from the collective West on the Union State.”
Belarus’ Defence Minister is confident that in this difficult period, which he called the hot phase of the global civilisational confrontation between the West and the East, the people of Belarus and Russia need to preserve the sovereignty and independence of their states at any cost.
“This can only be achieved by building new effective models of interstate relations, co-ordinating foreign policy and increasing the defence potential of the state’s military organisation,” summed up Viktor Khrenin.
