Khrenin: we don’t rattle weapons, but are prepared to defend our land and independence at any moment
A solemn assembly and a gala concert dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus took place at the Palace of the Republic. Speaking to the guests, Belarus’ Defence Minister Viktor Khrenin noted that our army is the most important guarantor of the country’s military security and peaceful skies over the country.
“The Armed Forces are continuously equipped with new and modernised weapons. Due to close interaction with enterprises of Belarus’ military-industrial complex, as well as the highest level of military-technical co-operation with our fraternal Russia, last year alone more than 200 models were put into service, about 300 thousand units of weapons, military hardware and military equipment were purchased and delivered to the troops. The Belarusian army received divisional sets of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system, a regimental set of the S-400 air defence missile system and a set of the Tor-M2 anti-aircraft missile system, B-300 Polonez-M multiple launch rocket systems, the BTR-82A armoured personnel carrier, Mi-35M attack helicopters, a wide range of unmanned aerial systems and modern reconnaissance, communications and navigation equipment, radar stations and much more. This year, it is planned to deliver Su-30SM aircraft and Mi-35M helicopters. In the near future, the renewal of the aircraft and weapons fleet will continue. You must understand that all these steps are absolutely not militaristic aspirations. We do not rattle weapons, but are preparing at any moment to defend our land, our families and our independence,” underlined the Defence Minister of Belarus.
