During a working trip to the Oshmyany District of the Grodno Region, the Head of State, Aleksandr Lukashenko, got acquainted with the relevant events at one of the sites.

“Challenges and threats are growing, and we are increasing the level of checks. According to the scale, this check is one of the largest. The 19th Mechanised Brigade and the 120th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade are being brought to the ‘full’ combat readiness with the implementation of all sets of measures. About 5,000 reserve troops are involved in these events. This is a very large number,” the Minister noted.

“Today we see how challenges and threats are increasing. This is the bellicose rhetoric that comes from our neighbours. Of course, we cannot treat this calmly, because once we have already learnt the lessons of history,” Viktor Khrenin emphasised.

Viktor Khrenin also noted the highest motivation of people and stressed that Belarus is not going to get involved in an arms race with neighbouring states, “We have enough of what is in service with our Armed Forces. The most important for us is the motivation of people, training, keeping equipment in good condition, the ability to repair, maintain, operate, and modernise it. We are able to do all this and are actively engaged in these issues.”

As for the combat readiness check, it is carried out in order to train military personnel, improve combat and mobilisation readiness, and enhance skills in dealing with unfamiliar terrain.

“Therefore, the units did not go to the training range, but to a real site, real routes, a real border. However, they perform training tasks. The situation has been created for them so that today there is no war yet, and the enemy is only preparing for it. Our actions demonstrate our determination to defend our country. We are ready to defend our Homeland,” the Minister stressed.

“We need to see and monitor the situation. Act decisively, if necessary, and do not hesitate, if they try to provoke us. That's the main task,” Viktor Khrenin added.
