Police tried to clear protesters from the Nairobi central business district by spraying people with water cannons. Law enforcement officers also blocked the demonstrators' way to Parliament.

"On Thursday [June 20th], demonstrators in towns and cities, including Nyerl, Nakuru, Eldoret and Kisumu called for lawmakers to drop the bill and waved placards," the source said.

The protesters claimed that tax increases will damage the economy and raise the cost of living for Kenyans.
