Karpenko comments on purpose of education
Education aims not only to ensure all-round development of students’ personalities but also formation of their competencies – as stated by Education Minister Igor Karpenko
Speaking at a special meeting devoted to the perfecting of the national education system, Mr. Karpenko noted that the Education Code had been widely discussed. The Minister focused on its most fundamental innovations, “A different definition of education is proposed. It now aims not only to ensure all-round development of students’ personalities but also formation of their competencies which envisage the ability to work in accordance with the education received.”
He also stressed that the principles of state policy in the field of education are supplemented by inclusion. “Inclusive education takes into account individual features of each student – rather than only of those with special psychophysical needs which was common previously,” Mr. Karpenko added.
Moreover, general secondary education will be a must.
