Karankevich: renewable energy sources in Belarus’ fuel and energy balance account for over 8%
Such data was announced by Belarus’ Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich during a meeting with Belarusian State Agricultural Academy students – as reported by the Energy Ministry in its Telegram channel
According to Viktor Karankevich, the share of renewable energy sources in the fuel and energy balance of Belarus stood at to 8.1 percent.
“Here we go ahead of schedule, as the achievement of the indicated figure is envisaged by 2030 by the Energy Security Concept of Belarus. Due to the outstripping pace of construction of renewable energy facilities both in the energy system and in the country as a whole, by the end of 2022, their share in the fuel and energy balance, according to our calculations, has already totalled 8.1 percent,” the Minister specified.
The Energy Ministry drew attention to the fact that the installed capacity of renewable energy facilities in the country has increased five times over the past nine years: from 120MW to 608MW in late 2022. In turn, the volume of RES electricity production increased from 274 to 1,275 million kWh.
