Karankevich: Belarus views Pakistan as important partner in South Asia
Belarus considers Pakistan as an important political, trade and economic partner in South Asia – as stated by Belarus’ Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich during his meeting with Federal Minister of Power of Pakistan Khurram Dastgir-Khan, the press service of the Energy Ministry reports
“Minsk highly appreciates the current level of Belarusian-Pakistani relations. It is important that our interaction is based on mutual respect and trust, which creates the basis for the effective development of mutual trade and investment partnership,” Viktor Karankevich underlined.
At the same time, according to him, the volume of trade between the countries does not yet correspond to the potential of bilateral relations.
“We hope that during your visit we will be able to discuss concrete steps to intensify our interaction,” the Belarusian Minister added. He expressed confidence that the 6th meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Pakistani Commission on Trade and Economic Co-operation, which will be held today in Minsk, will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations between the countries in the areas of mutual interest.
In turn, Khurram Dastgir Khan noted that Belarus and Pakistan have come a long way in the development of relations, bilateral documents on interaction have been signed, and a serious basis has been created for the further development of partnership between the two countries.
