Italy to introduce temporary border controls on border with Slovenia
Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said border controls would be introduced on the border with Slovenia, TASS reports
Piantedosi, during a telephone conversation with his Slovenian colleague, Boštjan Poklukars said that due to the changed situation in Europe and the Middle East, the Italian side decided to introduce controls on the border with Slovenia. It is noted that the essence of this measure is to counter terrorism and organised crime.
The head of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry underlined the ‘necessity of the temporary nature’ of these measures. As the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reports, according to unofficial information, Slovenia is preparing a notification to the European Commission on the introduction of border controls with Croatia and Hungary.
