Italy’s ex-PM: attempts to isolate Russia failed
Giuseppe Conte, the former Italian Prime Minister and leader of the 5-Star Movement opposition party, believes Western attempts to isolate Russian President Vladimir Putin failed, TASS reports
Giuseppe Conte noted, “Attempts to isolate Putin failed, but then we noticed that this strategy needs to be followed. It is impossible to achieve this by relying only on the forces of NATO and some countries, because Russia is left with states such as China, India, and the rest of the world."
At the same time, Italy’s ex-PM drew attention to the BRICS strengthening, adding that the military-political strategy of the United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union, which is aimed at military escalation with the Russian Federation, ‘does not offer a way out of the current situation’. Mr. Conte stressed that the forecasts of Russia’s collapse had failed.
“If [Italian Prime Minister Mario] Draghi and [current Head of Government Giorgia] Meloni listened to the assessments, followed the tradition of our country to rely on a dialogue, if diplomatic efforts were in the foreground, we would be able to find a solution," Mr. Conte shared his opinion.
