Italy ready to act as peace treaty guarantor on Ukraine
Rome is ready to support any efforts for a peaceful solution to the Ukrainian conflict – as stated by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, TASS reports
Ms. Meloni said at a press conference that she plans to go to Kiev in February 2023, before the first anniversary of the start of the special military operation.
"It is necessary to work [on peaceful settlement] specifically. Signals from both sides are needed. There are no significant signals today, but I was glad to hear during a conversation [with Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelenskyy that he has an intention to take initiatives in this direction. Italy is ready to act as a guarantor of the peace process, so I intend to visit Kiev before February 24th,” the Italian Prime Minister said.
