On May 25th, the Embassy and Consulate of Poland in Italy received a collective appeal from journalists, public figures and organisations of Italy calling for an end to the escalation of the conflict in the centre of Europe and hostile activities against Belarus. As the organisers explained, there was no response to their appeal, so they chose a more visual form of expressing their disagreement with the foreign policy of the Polish authorities.
According to the activists, by their gathering at the Polish Embassy on the symbolic date of June 22nd, they wanted to once again urge Poland to contribute to the speedy establishment of peace, and not provoke an escalation of the confrontation.
Demonstrations and speeches by Italian politicians and public figures who disagree with the actions of the NATO bloc are taking place increasingly often. The interest of Italy’s leftist and anti-fascist forces towards Belarus is also growing, and the republic is becoming an outpost and embodiment of the struggle for peace and justice.
