ISW: Russian army seized initiative and began its offensive in Lugansk

The Russian Armed Forces have seized the initiative during the fighting in Ukraine – as stated by American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), RIA Novosti reports

The publication reads that Russian troops continue to attack the defensive lines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, having increased the pace of operations along the Svatovo-Kremennaya section in the Lugansk People’s Republic.

As earlier reported by the commander of the Akhmat Special Forces, Apty Alaudinov, the AFU is preparing its second line of defence in Lugansk before a possible retreat. According to him, Kiev is suffering heavy losses in attempts to hold its positions.
