ISU allowed Belarusian, Russian skaters to qualify for Olympics
The International Skating Union (ISU) Council allowed Belarusian and Russian skaters to take part in qualifying events for the 2026 Olympics as neutral athletes, ISU press service informed
As announced by the National Olympic Committee of Belarus, the Skating Union of Belarus received a permission to nominate one female and one male athlete for each of the following categories: speed skating, short track, and figure skating, including pair skating and ice dancing, before February 28, 2025. The ISU has decided to follow the International Olympic Committee’s experience when it comes to participation of Belarusian and Russian athletes in the games and expand it to the 2026 Olympics.
