Lukashenko: Belarus’ economy enables us to spend more money on social support for population
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has been reported today on the improvement of social support for the population. Deputy PM Igor Petrishenko, Deputy Head of the President Administration Aleksandr Yegorov, Minister of Labour and Social Protection Natalya Pavlyuchenko, Finance Minister Yuri Seliverstov and Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions Yuri Senko have been invited to the Palace of Independence to discuss this issue.
Anticipating the discussion of the agenda, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, “Our meeting will focus on the issues of social support for vulnerable categories of citizens, as we call them. The topic is important. Belarus is a socially oriented state. It is clear that in such a situation, with such a policy, we must support pensioners, disabled people, and orphaned children. In general, the government is judged by the way we settle social support issues.”
According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, social programmes in our country are very extensive.
“Our economy provides an opportunity to direct more money into this area, which is what we are doing. However, I have already said several times that there should be no excesses either. When making certain decisions, we must always understand what situation we are in, and be sure to understand what we can and cannot do today. The most important thing is that we must understand whether we can fulfil this. The decisions made must be implemented.”
The Head of State noted that he would like to hear answers to these questions from the speakers. The major question is whether we need it. At the same time, Aleksandr Lukashenko warned that there should be no competition here, when some say that we do not have enough money, while others will act as a great benefactor from the position of support of the population.
