International Organisation for Russian Language will start operating in CIS in 2024
The International Organisation for the Russian Language will be launched in the CIS in 2024 – as informed by the CIS Secretary General, Sergei Lebedev, before the start of a regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member states to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth in Minsk
“The initiative was proposed by the President of Kazakhstan, and it was supported by all states. This organisation will be created, and the preparatory measures are already underway. We hope that the International Organisation for the Russian Language will be operational next year. Its secretariat and headquarters will be located in the city of Sochi,” Mr. Lebedev said.
The recent meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member states to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth focused on six issues. The participants were reported on the results of the presidency of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2023 and analysed the implementation of the plan of main measures for the realisation of the CIS further development concept. In addition, they discussed proposals for the draft agenda of the next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers scheduled to be held in Minsk in April 2024.
