Instrumental laboratory dedicated to balalaika and domra to be organised at 33rd Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk
For the first time, an instrumental laboratory will be organised at the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, dedicated to two folk instruments, the Russian balalaika and the Belarusian domra – as stated by Gleb Lapitsky, the Director General of the Vitebsk Cultural Centre and the Director of the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk International Festival of Arts, BelTA reports
Gleb Lapitsky noted that the educational component of the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk International Festival of Arts will be replenished with a new direction this year, “The instrumental laboratory, which we lacked, will be implemented together with the Gnesin Russian Academy of Music on the basis of the Vitebsk State Music College named after I. I. Sollertinsky. It will be dedicated to two national instruments – the Russian balalaika [stringed musical instrument with triangular body] and the Belarusian domra [stringed musical instrument with round body].”
Famous musicians who know and master the secrets of virtuoso playing will share them with the youth. The instrumental laboratory will be attended by college and university students from Belarus and Russia, which will further strengthen the friendship between the creative youth of both countries.
The theatre laboratory, which will be traditionally held in co-operation with the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS), will continue its work. The vocal laboratory organised by the regional philharmonic society will also repeat its last year's success.
The main events of the 33rd Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk International Festival of Arts will be held from July 11th to 14th.
