Industry accounts for 27.5 percent of Belarus’ GDP, sb.by reports with reference to the data provided in the Industry of the Republic of Belarus in 2023 statistical review prepared by the National Statistical Committee of Belarus (Belstat)
According to statistics, the share of industry in the number of people employed in Belarus stands at 24 percent – 0.2 percentage points up compared to the previous year. The industry currently employs 893 thousand people.
The share of exports of goods increased by 0.5 percentage points, reaching 94.1 percent. In 2023, Belarus’ industrial production reached Br187.8bn, with the Minsk and Gomel regions among the leaders.
Last year, there were 213 more industrial organisations in the country, by the end of the year their number reached 16,285. Medium-tech industries account for 33.2 percent of the gross value added of the manufacturing industry, while high-tech industries account for 6.8 percent.
In the structure of industrial production, manufacturing industry accounts for 90.1 percent, followed by the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning (7 percent), water supply, waste collection, treatment and disposal (1.7 percent), and mining (1.2 percent).
