Indonesia officially cancels coronavirus pandemic status

Indonesian President Joko Widodo has decided to officially lift the country’s coronavirus pandemic status starting from June 21st – as reported by RIA Novosti

According to Widodo, this decision was made after more than three years of co-ordinated fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, “The country is entering an endemic period,” the head of state stressed.

According to the President of Indonesia, the results of the study showed that 99 percent of the country’s inhabitants already have antibodies to coronavirus infection. At the same time, despite the fact that the pandemic is officially over, Widodo asked citizens ‘to be careful and continue to lead a healthy lifestyle’.

On June 19th, the Indonesian authorities officially lifted the mandatory vaccination requirement for travellers.
