According to the country’s defence officials, the missile was launched from Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha eastern coast and hit the specified target.

The Defence Acquisition Council, headed by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, had earlier approved the development and procurement of 370 new Pralay missiles for the Air Force and Army. The aircraft will be the first non-nuclear ballistic missile to be used by the Indian military. About 120 such devices will be supplied to the Indian Air Force, 250 to the ground forces.
