India's population will peak by 2060

In the early 2060s, India's population will peak at about 1.7bn people, TASS reports

The UN World Population Prospects 2024 report notes that India will be the most populous country in the world throughout the century, being ahead of China until 2100.

It is also noted that, in the next 50-60 years, the world's population will grow. In the mid-2080s, the number of people on the planet will reach 10.3bn. According to data for 2024, 8.2bn people live on Earth.
