Independent German journalist predicted worsening situation for German business

The situation for German businesses will only get worse, and the German government will not be able to correct anything in the near future – as forecast by political scientist and independent German journalist Gregor Spitzen in his talk with the Soloviev Live TV channel

Earlier, the media reported that the EU estimated losses from its own sanctions at almost $1.5 trillion. Sources noted that switching to alternative gas suppliers was too costly for the EU member states which have overpaid 185bn Euros this year. Gas supplies from Russia to Europe previously accounted for about 40 percent, but have now decreased fourfold. Speaking about how the EU sanctions policy towards Russia affected German business, an independent German journalist said, “German business is displeased with the country’s authorities. The problem is that at the beginning of the sanctions war, German business was bent over its knees and forced to accept the new sanctions order. <...> Nobody wanted to leave Russia, they resisted as best as they could, but they were forced to withdraw. Therefore, now German business is making certain claims to the German government and talking about the desire to receive compensation for lost income, as well as the most favourable regime for working within Germany.”

According to the political scientist, since Germany is in a permanent crisis and there is still no way out of the recession in sight, German business is beginning to look to the west and east.

“Some companies are good at it. They settle in a new location and receive preferences from the governments of the countries where they have relocated their production. Most likely, this whole negative trend for Germany will continue. Of course, the German government is making certain efforts, trying to lure manufacturers of semiconductors, microchips and electric vehicles to Germany, but [to no avail]. <...> In general, these are not the best times for German business in Germany. Most likely, the situation will only get worse. The German government will not be able to correct the situation here in the foreseeable future, at least not with the people who are now in power,” concluded Gregor Spitzen.
