In 2024, more migrants detained at US-Canada border than in past 17 years combined

During fiscal year 2024, US Border Patrol caught over 19,200 illegal migrants in the Swanton Section of the US-Canadian border – more than in the past 17 years combined, TASS reports

It is noted that agents of the US Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector have detained over 19,200 illegal migrants from 97 different countries since October 1st, 2023, which exceeds the total figures for the last 17 years.

The number of detained illegal migrants amounted to 574 in fiscal year 2020 and 365 in 2021. Then this figure increased significantly, reaching 1,000 and 6,900 in fiscal years 2022 and 2023, respectively.
