Il Messaggero: Italy froze new package of military assistance to Ukraine
Italy has suspended consideration of a new, sixth package of military assistance to Kiev, because it has not agreed it with NATO yet – as reported by RIA Novosti, referring to Il Messaggero sources familiar with the situation
According to Il Messaggero sources, the operation on military assistance to Ukraine is currently on the standby, because it is first necessary to co-ordinate it with NATO. Moreover, the Italian authorities plan to go into detail on Ukraine’s military requests.
“Only then will we understand what Kiev needs and what armaments we will be able to supply,” government officials reportedly told Il Messaggero.
Key to this discussion will be talks between NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Italian Defence Minister Guido Crosetto. NATO Secretary General is expected to visit Italy in the coming days.
