Igor Sergeyenko elected Chairman of the House of Representatives of eighth convocation
Igor Sergeyenko has been elected Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation by secret ballot: all 109 deputies voted unanimously in his favour, and no votes against or no invalid ballots were registered
Igor Sergeyenko was born in 1963 in the village of Stolitsa, Sharkovshchina District, Vitebsk Region. He graduated from the Belarusian State University in 1984, and from the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2006. In 1989-2010, Igor Sergeyenko worked in different positions at the State Security Committee (KGB). In 2010, he was appointed Head of the KGB Directorate for the Mogilev Region and, in 2013, became KGB First Deputy Chairman on Counterintelligence Activities. In 2014-2019, Igor Sergeyenko worked as KGB First Deputy Chairman and, since December 2019, held the position of Head of Belarus President Administration.
