IAEA Chief did not rule out risk of accident at Zaporozhye NPP
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi said that the risk of an accident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant cannot be ruled out, RIA Novosti reports
In an interview with Le Monde, the IAEA Director General said that the Zaporozhye NPP is now functioning, but with difficulties, and therefore the scenario of an accident is not ruled out. “Power outages and problems with spent fuel are of particular concern,” said Rafael Grossi.
According to him, the International Atomic Energy Agency considered the risks of nuclear accidents at nuclear power plants, but did not expect that a large nuclear power plant would be at the centre of a large-scale confrontation using conventional weapons.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine repeatedly fired at the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP. A few days ago, Russia distributed relevant photographic evidence in the Security Council and the UN General Assembly.
