Lukashenko quoted Putin as saying Russia ready to supply gas to Germany
Speaking on the side-lines of the EAEU summit with journalists, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko quoted Russian President Vladimir Putin as saying that Russia is ready to supply gas to Germany, BelTA reports
Journalists asked the Head of State about his recent statement at a meeting with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin that EU countries could soon resume co-operation with Russia and Belarus. "I think sooner or later (after visiting the UAE, I am absolutely convinced in that) Europe will open up for us. Europe cannot exist without Russia. It cannot exist without us. That is why good high-speed roads are needed,” he said then.
On the side-lines of the EAEU summit, Aleksandr Lukashenko confirmed, “Of course, it will open up. What other way is possible for it? Read what the future Chancellor of Germany – as I think – says, “We are not children. We know what cheap gas is." This means they will buy cheap gas from Russia. Only idiots will fail to take advantage of it – especially when there is one line of the [Nord Stream] gas pipeline; they did not have time to explode it actually. Therefore, Russia can [supply] 25 billion cubic metres vis this line.”
"This is as I know it. I asked Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] yesterday whether Russians were ready to sell, and he told me, “We are always ready." Therefore, let them buy, pay money to Russia and restore normal relations – not in the name of Russia (Russia will do without them, and we will do), but of their German economy," the Head of State said.
