Honda to invest $11bn in production of electric vehicles in Canada
Japan’s Honda intends to invest 15 billion Canadian Dollars ($11bn) in the construction of a plant to produce batteries for electric vehicles in Elliston, Ontario. A new automobile facility is also planned. As reported by TASS, exclusively electric-powered cars will be manufactured there.
Honda Motor CEO Toshihiro Mibe, whose speech was broadcast by Canadian TV channels, said in Elliston, “We expect a total investment [in this project] of 15 billion Canadian Dollars." He added that, in 2028, the EV assembly plant with an annual capacity of up to 240 thousand vehicles and the battery plant with an annual capacity of 36 GWh are expected to start operating in Elliston.
In addition, the Japanese company wants to create a full-fledged electric car service network in Canada.
