Hainan Province named China's key tea tree growing region
Tea plantation areas are to expand, and production of 1.2 thousand tonnes of tea annually is planned by 2025 in China’s Hainan Province. As reported by People’s Daily, the territory is accordingly included in the list of the country’s key regions focusing on cultivation of tea trees.
It is informed that tea plantation areas in Hainan are planned to exceed 16,000 hectares by 2025, thus almost doubling. As a result, the province will be able to produce 1.2 thousand tonnes of tea annually, which will generate about $295m for the country.
In Hainan, the tea tree is one of the six key agricultural crops. In recent years, measures aimed at improvement of tea quality and production have intensified.
